A vintage ceramic novelty cookie jar produced in the form of a miniature wood-burning or coal kitchen cookstove. The earthenware piece is finished in a matte black glaze intended to simulate the appearance of cast iron. The removable lid features a central stovepipe and a small molded pot sitting on a burner. The front includes molded details of stove doors, handles, and air vents, and the lower section is decorated with a molded floral and scroll pattern. Hand-painted details include a metallic gold finish on the pot and yellow dot accents on the scrolled backboard. The underside is incised with the mark McCoy USA where the c features a distinctive flourish.Width: 7.5 inchesHeight: 8 inchesThe cookie jar is in good vintage condition. There is significant wear and loss to the metallic gold cold-paint on the pot situated on the lid. Several small white spots and minor glaze flakes or flea bites are visible on the matte black surface, particularly along the edges and corners. A small chip is present on the inner rim of the jar body where the lid rests. Four adhesive felt pads are applied to the feet and are in worn condition, and the unglazed foot ring shows typical shelf wear. 2
