Twin Winton Ceramic Ranger Bear Cookie Jar

A vintage mid-century ceramic cookie jar by Twin Winton, modeled as a seated anthropomorphic bear in a forest ranger or scout leader uniform. Often identified with the Smokey the Bear character, the piece is constructed from earthenware with a matte, relief-molded wood-grain texture and finished in a medium brown stain. The bear features hand-painted black detailing on the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and paw pads, accented by a green-painted neckerchief. The two-piece construction features a removable lid formed by the bear's campaign hat, with the interior of both the base and lid finished in a clear white glaze. The base is stamped in dark brown ink with the maker's name TWIN WINTON, a copyright symbol, and the origin SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO CALIF. A significant chip is present on the front edge of the left ear, and a smaller chip is located on the back of the right ear.
