This is a WWII-era German military stamped-steel equipment transit case weighing 4,022 grams (8.87 lbs). Measuring 15 in H x 18 in W x 5 in D (38.1 cm H x 45.7 cm W x 12.7 cm D), the hinged case features complex multi-directional embossed strengthening ribs across the top and bottom panels. Equipped with a turned-wood top carry handle, corner D-rings for shoulder straps, and double spring-loaded draw-latches, the exterior retains traces of its original grey-green military paint over bare steel. The interior partitions and brackets have been completely removed, leaving an open double-shell interior. The case displays heavy age oxidation and field wear, with extensive paint loss, dark patina, and surface rust throughout the interior and exterior. The interior dividers have been removed. Both latch assemblies, corner D-rings, and the wooden handle remain intact and functional.
