Dating to the early 20th century, this 6x "Helinox Trieder-Binocle" center-focus binocular was manufactured by C.P. Goerz in Berlin, Germany. Upper prism cover plate stampings feature the triangular "C.P. GOERZ BERLIN" logo on the left cover and "6xHELINOX TRIËDER-BINOCLE D.R.P." on the right cover. Serial number "540700" is stamped on the bridge arm, and "U.S. PAT. 904066" is marked on the central hinge cap. The binoculars measure 4.75 inches high by 6.5 inches wide (12.1 cm H x 16.5 cm W) and weigh 724 grams (1 lb 9.5 oz). Constructed with brass and metal frame elements, a central focusing wheel, and textured body coverings, the unit maintains smooth central hinge pivot action, a smooth central focus wheel, and smooth right diopter focus adjustment. Optical glass condition is clear across both channels with light dust spotting on both sides, providing clear overall viewing performance with no functional defects. All finishes and pebble-textured wraps are factory original, exhibiting age-appropriate paint wear, edge wear, and brassing along metal contact points.
