Produced during World War I by Moritz Hensoldt & Söhne in Wetzlar, Germany, this 6x30 military optical set features upper prism cover plate stampings displaying the framed "HENSOLDT WETZLAR" logo alongside military designation "Dienstglas 6x30". Aninternal reticle scale (ranging grid) is integrated into the optical system. The binoculars measure 4.75 inches high by 6.5 inches wide (12.1 cm H x 16.5 cm W) and weigh 697 grams (1 lb 8.6 oz). The accompanying fitted brown leather hard case measures 5.5 inches high by 7 inches wide (14.0 cm H x 17.8 cm W). Constructed with metal frame elements, individual focus diopters, and textured body coverings, the unit maintains smooth central hinge pivot action and smooth focus controls on both diopters. Optical condition is clear across both channels, offering clear viewing performance with the internal reticle grid visible. All components have been repainted, including the textured body coverings. The tan-to-brown leather case exhibits surface wear, scuffs, and age darkening, complete with side attachment studs and belt loops.
