Pair of Fernglas 08 military binoculars produced by Spindler & Hoyer in Göttingen during World War I. The metal frame bears a gray-green painted finish, which shows extensive wear and significant texture loss to the body covering, reflecting heavy service use. Both barrels and the metal framework reveal substantial finish loss. Markings are clearly stamped on the bridge washer, reading "Fernglas 08" and "Spindler & Hoyer Göttingen," while the lower bridge pivot cap is stamped "GERMANY." The binoculars retain their original grayish synthetic eyecups on the diopter assemblies. The binoculars measure 4.25 inches high by 4.75 inches wide (10.8 cm H x 12.1 cm W) and weigh 429 grams (15.1 oz). The optics remain functional and clear with only light surface scratches. Center hinge retains smooth tension, though diopter rings feel rough in operation.
