Original World War I Imperial German Model 1884/98 (Seitengewehr 84/98) combat bayonet, featuring a single-edged fullered steel blade measuring 9.9 inches, with the bayonet reaching an overall length of 15.1 inches and weighing 392 grams. The bayonet is constructed with wooden grip scales secured by screws, a steel pommel with an attachment slot, and a full steel blade exhibiting heavy dark oxidation, pitting, and patina consistent with battlefield relic or ground-find condition. The included steel scabbard displays matching age and wear. Accompanying the bayonet is its original heavy black leather belt frog, characterized by white contrast stitching and steel rivets, showing surface age wear and stiffening indicative of long-term storage or ground recovery. This authentic WWI piece offers significant appeal for military collectors and trench display settings.
