WWII German Trinkwasser 5L Canteen Flask, 1941

Featured is a WWII German Afrika Korps / Southern Front 5-liter aluminum drinking water field canteen flask (Trinkwasser 5l). Weighing 1,243 grams (2.74 lbs) and measuring 15.5 in H x 5.25 in W x 5.25 in D (39.4 cm H x 13.3 cm W x 13.3 cm D), the aluminum body features white stenciled lettering on two sides reading "Trinkwasser 5 l". The top lid cap is stamped with the manufacturer code and date "SMN 41" (1941). The flask incorporates an aluminum wire swing bail handle, a hinged flip-top cap secured with a wire locking clip and safety chain, and a rubber sealing gasket. The exterior retains a field-applied tan Ordnance Tan finish over bare aluminum. Displays field use with heavy exterior paint wear, scuffing, and finish loss exposing the raw aluminum body. Includes a small impact dent on one upper corner. The hinged cap, locking wire, chain, and bail handle remain fully functional.
