Carl Zeiss Jena Turactem 8x24 center-focus binocular dating to the early 20th century, manufactured in Jena, Germany. Markings on the upper prism cover plate include the framed 'CARL ZEISS JENA' logo, 'TURACTEM', serial number '1235059', and the optical specification '8x24.' Constructed with a metal frame and brass eyecups, these binoculars retain their original pebble-textured body covering. The binoculars measure 4 inches high by 6 inches wide (10.2 cm H x 15.2 cm W) and weigh 472 grams (10.4oz / 1 lb 0.6 oz). Mechanical features include a smooth hinge pivot and diopter focus, with the central focus wheel operating with some stiffness. The optical glass shows internal dust spotting in both barrels but remains clear for viewing with no functional defects. The binoculars are in very good condition with only light edge brassing on metal surfaces and all original finishes intact. The black leather hard case, measuring 5 inches high by 7 inches wide (12.7 cm H x 17.8 cm W), is complete with a working spring closure latch and leather shoulder strap, showing overall very good condition.
