Manufactured during World War II by Fr. Krupp A.-G. in Berlin under ordnance code "bmj", this military S.F.14.Z.Gi. scissors periscope (Scherenfernrohr) displays upper body stampings reading "bmj / + / 574027 / S.F.14.Z.Gi. / H/6400". The leveling base head displays "Busch / Rathenow" alongside "L.O.Nr. 4 / Sr. 259", while the upper sight section is stamped with an optic emblem over "M-53". The main leather transport case exterior bears stencil marking "1789" with a tag sticker labeled "574027".Standard production specifications for the main periscope unit list dimensions of approximately 20.5"H x 7.5"W x 5"D when folded closed, extending to ~33"W when opened horizontally. The main leather case measures 24"H x 9"W x 8.5"D. The folded wooden tripod measures 42"H x 4.5"W. The canvas accessory pouch measures 11"H x 7"W x 3.5"D, housing two green metal extension cylinders measuring 10"H x 2.5" Diameter. Constructed with cast alloy housings finished in factory olive drab paint, the periscope features dual hinged optical arms, level vials, graduated azimuth and elevation dials, and a quick-release lever mechanism. Mechanical adjustment dials turn as designed across the leveling base and eyepiece assemblies, and internal optics remain intact. All components show original, unrestored finishes with age-appropriate paint wear, edge flaking, metal oxidation, and surface scuffing throughout.
