Published during World War I by Oberkommando der Armee-Abteilung von Strantz, this original German softcover photographic album is titled Zwischen Maas und Mosel. Bound in beige paper wrappers with cord binding along the spine edge, the album servesas an official military photographic record of the sector between the Meuse and Moselle rivers under General Hermann von Strantz. The interior contains high-quality sepia-toned photogravure plates depicting captured French fortifications, trench works, naval guns (Marinegeschütz) in the Bois d'Hennemont, defensive entrenchments near Gussainville, destroyed villages including Apremont and Varneville, and regional landscape views around Mousson and Pont-à-Mousson. The landscape volume measures 10.5 x 13.5 inches. Condition is consistent with age and handling. The original paper wrappers show light edge wear, corner creasing, subtle foxing/smudging, and minor fraying to the original cord tie. Interior pages remain firmly held, clean, and complete with crisp printed images and light marginal paper toning.
