This World War I patriotic commemorative display honors a German soldier serving in the field ("im Felde") between 1914 and 1917. The hand-embroidered text reads "Gott Schütze unsern lieben Sohn im Felde Weltkrieg 1914-1917" ("God protect our dear son in the field, World War 1914–1917") across a perforated fabric backing. The central layout displays a portrait photograph of Kaiser Wilhelm II flanked by dried foliage motifs above a portrait photo of the uniformed soldier housed in a striped sentry box frame. Embossed decorative accents include an Iron Cross with cannon barrels and an Imperial Prussian eagle clutching a flag emblem. The mat board shows minor age toning around the borders. The frame structure is loose, exhibiting light surface wear along the edges, and a small crack is present in the bottom left corner of the glass. Dimensions: H. 22-1/2 in. x W. 18 in. Image size: H. 15 in. x W. 11 in.
