ca. mid-19th century; Home crafted traveler's adjustable squirrel-cage yarn winder in mixed oak and hickory wood, primitively constructed with a double-spool upper winder on a slotted-slide up carriage that has center wooden pin bar rack for setting of height. The lower double-spool is mounted into a primitive box-nail construction upright rack mortise set into a shoe-foot cut-out base.; 12 1/4" x 10 3/4" x 22 3/4"; Condition: Very primitive "make-do" construction. The winder has excellent old smoke-house patina. Box nails help to date it to mid-late 19th century
