ca. late 20th century-contemporary; Unsigned reproduction scherrenschnitt patriotic themed picture with "Liberty and American eagle with flag" design. The original was attributed as being circa 1835 to pastor Isaac Stiehly of the Mahantongo Valley (near Klingerstown, PA). The reproduction is done on artist rag paper that has applied coffee/tea staining to the front of the image, scissor/knife cut design of American eagle with spread wings grasping arrows in its talons and a flag in its beak. The work has compasswork stars and floral wreath designs in corners with a cursive letter heading of "Liberty", in a modern red-black painted softwood corner-block frame; Frame - 22 3/4" x 16"; Condition: Excellent craftsmanship, unfortunately unsigned by artist. The piece is a contemporary in a contemporary era painted frame.
