This is a collection of approximately 60-65 Edison Blue Amberol phonograph cylinders, manufactured in the United States between circa 1912 and 1929. The cylinders are constructed from blue celluloid over a plaster core. This assortmentincludes a variety of early 20th-century recordings including popular songs, marches, and spoken word performances. Visible titles and artists transcribed from the cylinder rims include The Land of Golden Dreams by Elsie Baker andHarrison, A Race for a Wife by Ada Jones and Len Spencer (No. 3857), Little Bit for Sympathy by Gladys Rice and W. Van Brunt (No. 3064), It Pays to Serve Jesus by Geo. N. Hare (No. 4122), 1716 Medley of Country Dances, and Wisconsin Marchby Military Band. Other legible inscriptions include The Heart of Irish Eyes by Doyle (No. 2599), Scenes That Are Brightest, and Old Sweet Lullaby. Most cylinders are housed in individual cylindrical cardboard storage tubes. Several ofMedia: G to VG. The cylinders are in mixed condition. Many exhibit accumulated surface dust, grime, and varying degrees of white mold or efflorescence on the celluloid playing surfaces.
