This lot comprises approximately 65 Edison Blue Amberol series phonograph cylinder records, dating from the early 20th century between 1912 and 1929. These are 4-minute cylinders featuring blue celluloid sleeves over plaster of Paris cores.The collection includes a variety of early popular music genres such as jazz, fox trots, hymns, and orchestral pieces. Legible titles and artists incised on the cylinder rims include 4122 It Pays to Serve Jesus - Mr. and Mrs. Geo. N. Farr,4074 Ching-A-Ling's Jazz Band, Roll on Beautiful World Roll On, The Maid of the Mountain, Rainy Day Blues - Fox Trot, Make That Trombone Laugh, On the 5.15, Heaven in My Life - Mayo and Tally, At the Moving Picture Ball, and Sunshine ofVirginia. Mentioned performers and groups include the Peerless Orchestra, W. Van Brunt, and the Metropolitan Quartet. Many units display numerical catalog codes such as 4074, 3335, and 4122 along with Edison patent marks. The majority ofThe media is in varied condition. Several cylinders show signs of plaster rot where the internal cores are crumbling or expanding. Visible cracks and splits are present in the celluloid sleeves.
