This antique bisque head shoulder plate doll was produced by the German firm Armand Marseille. The back of the bisque shoulder plate is incised with the marks 3200 AM 1 DEP, identifying the doll as mold number 3200, size 1. The doll is constructed with a bisque head and shoulder plate on a gusseted kid leather body, featuring bisque lower arms and hands and stuffed cloth lower legs. Facial details include weighted blue glass sleeping eyes, molded and painted eyebrows, painted lower eyelashes, and an open mouth showing four molded upper teeth. The doll has a reddish-brown wig. Included with the doll is a blue textured-fabric long-sleeved dress with black ribbon and lace trim, a white cotton slip with a wide lace border, white cotton pantaloons, black socks, black synthetic-style shoes with buckle details, and a black satin sash. Height: 20 inches. This doll shows expected light wear to the kid leather body and cloth legs consistent with age. The bisque head appears to be in good order. The weighted eye mechanism is functional. Some minor staining to cloth components and a hand-stitched repair to the leg are present.
