Simon & Halbig #1079 German bisque head socket doll on a fully jointed composition and wood body. The socket head features a peaches-and-cream complexion with rosy cheeks and pierced ears. The doll displays brown glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, remains of mohair lashes, and multi-stroke feathered eyebrows. The open mouth reveals four inset porcelain upper teeth and shaded lips. A brown mohair wig with long curls is attached to the head. The composition and wood ball-jointed body retains its original finish and features red-painted accent lines on the fingernails. The doll is dressed in a vintage red cotton dress with white polka dots, a ruffled collar, and cream-colored decorative stitching. Included are white cotton undergarments comprising a chemise and lace-trimmed pantaloons, white knit socks, and black leather-style strap shoes with gold-toned buckles. The back of the head is incised with the marks S & H, 1079, DEP, Germany, and size 14. Height: 28 inches. This doll shows expected light age-related wear to the composition body and vintage clothing. The bisque head appears to be in very good condition with no visible hairlines or repairs, maintaining a clean and well-preserved appearance.
