This collection features three antique baby dolls of varied construction and origins. The primary example is a German J.D. Kestner (JDK) bisque socket head doll with glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, and a molded bald head originally intended for a wig. The reverse of the neck is incised with the letter S above a stylized J D K monogram and the word Germany. It is mounted on a cloth body with composition lower arms and hands. The second doll is a composition shoulder head doll by the Acme Toy Co. with molded orange-red hair and forward-facing painted eyes. It is marked ACME TOY CO on the reverse of the neck and features a cloth body with vintage white knit socks and blue ribbons. The third doll is a composition shoulder head doll marked B D on the reverse of the shoulder plate, featuring molded tan hair and side-glancing painted eyes on a cloth body with composition lower arms. Each doll contains an internal crier mechanism that may not work. These dolls show expected signs of age and wear commensurate with their period of manufacture. The J.D. Kestner bisque head is well-preserved with only minor surface scuffing. The composition components on all three dolls exhibit typical surface crazing, cracking, and areas of paint loss, with more significant deterioration and chipping noted on the B D model's shoulder plate and facial area. The cloth bodies display general soiling and staining. The Kestner doll includes an old fabric wrap repair to the left leg. The internal criers are silent.
