Offered is a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar, the first year of the Kennedy Half Dollar series and the only year in which regular-issue Kennedy Half Dollars were struck in 90% silver. Please review the photos for the exact mint mark, condition, surfaces, and overall appearance. The Kennedy Half Dollar was introduced in 1964, following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963. The obverse was designed by Gilroy Roberts, while the reverse was designed by Frank Gasparro. The coin quickly became a popular keepsake and collectible. The 1964 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of 273,304,004 coins, while the Denver Mint produced 156,205,446 circulation strikes. Both were struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, with each coin weighing 12.5 grams and containing approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver.
