Offered is a 1961 Franklin Half Dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This classic 90% silver half dollar features Benjamin Franklin on the obverse and the Liberty Bell on the reverse. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, luster, and overall appearance. The Franklin Half Dollar was produced from 1948 through 1963 and was designed by John R. Sinnock, with the reverse design completed by John Frederick Lewis. The 1961 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of 8,290,000 coins. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs 12.5 grams, and contains approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver. Philadelphia issues carry no mint mark. The 1961 issue is also interesting to variety collectors, as Bugs Bunny and Doubled Die Reverse varieties are documented for this date. The Doubled Die Reverse variety shows notable doubling in portions of the reverse lettering.
