1909-P V.D.B. Lincoln Cent, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This is a highly collectible first-year issue and one of the most famous Lincoln Wheat Cents due to the “V.D.B.” initials of designer Victor David Brenner appearing on the reverse. Please review the photos for the exact condition, color, luster, and surfaces. The Lincoln Cent was introduced in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. Victor David Brenner designed the Lincoln portrait on the obverse and the original wheat-ear reverse. The V.D.B. initials appear at the bottom of the reverse, near the rim. The 1909-P V.D.B. had a mintage of approximately 27,995,000 coins. Public criticism over the prominence of Brenner's initials led the Mint to remove them from the reverse later in 1909, making the V.D.B. issue particularly desirable to collectors.
