1909 S Lincoln Cent

1909-S Lincoln Cent, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This is a highly collectible first-year issue and one of the key dates of the Lincoln Wheat Cent series. Please review the photos for the exact condition, color, luster, surfaces, and whether the V.D.B. initials are present on the reverse. The Lincoln Cent debuted in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. Victor David Brenner designed Lincoln’s portrait on the obverse and the original wheat-ear reverse. The 1909-S Lincoln Cent without V.D.B. had a mintage of only 1,825,000 coins, making it a scarce early Lincoln Cent and an important date for collectors. The San Francisco Mint also struck 484,000 1909-S V.D.B. cents, which are a separate and substantially rarer variety.
