Early-to-mid 20th century oil on board pastoral landscape, signed Hanz at the lower left, depicting a quiet river or pond winding through a broad wooded countryside beneath a softly luminous, clouded sky. A gracefully leaning tree anchors the foreground while low grasses and delicate wildflowers line the water’s edge, opening toward a hazy distant horizon rendered in muted greens, browns, blue-grays, and warm atmospheric tones. The finely blended treatment of sky and distance contrasts with more detailed foliage in the foreground, giving the composition a convincing sense of depth and tranquil naturalism. Presented in a substantial, highly decorative gilt composition frame with multiple stepped moldings and bold repeating foliate ornament.
