An elaborate Continental-style gilt bronze and black marble figural mantel clock fitted with a German movement marked Franz Hermle, designed in an exuberant Neo-Baroque/Rococo Revival manner. The architectural case centers a richly cast circular dial with individual white enamel Roman numeral cartouches, ornate pierced hands, and twin winding apertures, surrounded by scrolling foliage, floral ornament, and molded borders. The clock is dramatically flanked by two sculptural putti or youthful figures posed beside animal-form supports, while the upper structure incorporates opposing eagle heads beneath an urn-form black-and-white veined marble finial framed by sweeping gilt scrolls. The clock rests on a substantial black marble platform above an exceptionally detailed gilt bronze base with drapery, foliage, crossed martial trophies, and paw-form feet. The reverse retains its circular movement cover, and a winding key accompanies the clock. The chime mechanism is working; however, the clock movement is not presently running, and the timekeeping function should be considered in need of service or adjustment. Overall condition shows scattered rubbing, oxidation, surface wear, minor discoloration, and age-related marks consistent with display and use, while the marble exhibits natural veining and minor surface wear. Measures 24"H x 13"W x 7.5"D.
