A handsome vintage table lamp designed in the Neoclassical taste, featuring an elongated classical urn-form body raised on a substantial square pedestal base and richly embellished with cast architectural and foliate ornament. The urn is fitted with a pair of elaborate scrolling handles incorporating rosette medallions, pendant palmette mounts, bands of egg-and-dart and acanthus decoration, and a tapered lower section terminating in a molded foot. The stepped gilt bronze pedestal is particularly decorative, with applied laurel wreath-and-ribbon motifs to the sides above a broad foliate border, giving the lamp the appearance of a ceremonial trophy or classical architectural furnishing. Finished throughout in a warm gilt bronze tone with natural variations in surface color, patination, light wear, scratches, oxidation, and rubbing consistent with age and use. Fitted with a rotary socket; the lamp has been tested and is working. Measures 26"H x 8"W x 5"D.
