A contemporary hand-carved wood wading bird sculpture, likely conceived as a stylized heron, crane, or egret, carved from a substantial single section of timber and presented in an unfinished or weathered pale natural surface. The elongated bird is defined by its sharply rising beak and head, tall narrow body, simplified legs, and broad incised wing panels, giving the piece a strongly architectural silhouette and appealing primitive folk-art character. Hand-cut grooves articulate the wings and feet while visible tool marks, natural grain, splits, and irregularities emphasize the sculpture’s handmade construction. The figure stands directly on its integral carved base and has an especially striking vertical presence suited to folk-art, rustic, coastal, garden-room, or eclectic interiors. Condition is consistent with age and handmade construction, including surface wear, scattered abrasions, checking and splits in the wood, minor losses and roughness along carved edges, and areas of discoloration; no maker’s signature or identifying mark is visible in the provided photographs. Measures 50"H x 10"W.
