Decorative Neoclassical-style architectural pedestal or display stand, designed as a tall fluted column with a warm parcel-gilt finish and contrasting ebonized detailing. The cylindrical shaft rises from a molded black base mounted on a square plinth and is surmounted by a boldly modeled Ionic-style capital with prominent scroll volutes, supporting a square reddish-brown wooden display platform. The combination of gilded fluting, black architectural ornament, and substantial columnar proportions gives the piece a dramatic classical presence well suited for displaying sculpture, urns, plants, or decorative objects. Condition shows considerable age-related and decorative wear, including rubbing and losses to the gilt and painted finishes, scratches and abrasions to the wooden top, edge and corner losses, scattered chips, cracking, and a notably damaged/lost section at one lower corner of the black base, as photographed. Measures 41.5"H x 10"W.
