A handsome pair of Louis XVI style side or dining chairs crafted in richly toned walnut, each featuring a gently bowed crest rail above a tall open back fitted with five slender vertical splats and a curved lower rail. The upholstered seats have softly shaped fronts and are covered in cream-colored leather or leather-like upholstery, finished along the perimeter with a continuous row of brass nailhead trim. Carved circular rosettes accent the front corners above straight tapering legs, while restrained molded detailing throughout gives the pair an elegant neoclassical character. The chairs present attractively with warm, naturally varied wood coloration and a pleasing aged surface. Condition is consistent with age and use, including scattered scratches, rubbing and finish wear to the frames, along with visible light soiling, scuffs, small marks and discoloration to the cream upholstery; nailhead trim remains largely intact. Measures 36"H x 17"W x 14"D and seat height 20"tall.
