Pair of antique 19th-century black-and-white genre engravings depicting sentimental rural scenes, one showing a young courting couple seated together beside a rustic stile in a wooded landscape and the companion composition portraying a family group gathered beneath large trees near a cottage, with finely engraved figures, foliage, architecture, and atmospheric landscape details characteristic of Victorian-era narrative prints. Both are housed beneath glass in matching dark molded wood frames with gilt inner liners, and one retains an especially desirable period paper label verso reading “FROM W. H. CURRY’S PHOTOGRAPH & FINE ART GALLERY, No. 414 Market Street, Wilmington, Del. Frames of every description furnished to order at Philadelphia prices.” The surviving gallery label provides appealing Delaware provenance and indicates the works were framed or retailed through W.H. Curry’s Wilmington establishment. Condition is consistent with considerable age, including overall toning and fading to the prints, scattered spotting and discoloration, surface dust beneath the glass, and substantial age-related cracking, flaking, losses, and darkening to the gilt inner moldings; the dark wood outer frames show scratches, small losses, and general wear, while the original-style paper backings and hanging wires exhibit staining, tears, tape residue, and deterioration. Measures 5.5"H x 4.5"W and 8"H x 7"W including frames.
