An eclectic and visually striking collection of vintage silver-plated table and serving ware, highlighted by several whimsical airplane-form teapots with dimensional fuselages, corrugated wings, landing wheels, propeller-form details, hinged lids, and assorted handles, accompanied by an extensive assortment of period creamers, pitchers, sugar bowls, teapots, measuring vessels, cups, and related serving pieces. The collection ranges from streamlined Art Deco and Machine Age forms to later mid-century silverplate, with particularly appealing geometric teapots featuring contrasting reddish-brown handles, rounded spherical creamers with angular handles and pointed pouring lips, and numerous sculptural novelty forms. The airplane teapots are especially collectible; comparable silver-plated airplane-form teapots. Several pieces within the present collection show maker or manufacturer marks, while others appear unmarked or are not readily identifiable from the available views. Condition throughout is mixed and consistent with substantial age and use, including widespread tarnish, oxidation, scratching, surface wear, silverplate loss, discoloration, dents and minor deformation, with some of the novelty airplane pieces exhibiting missing or detached fittings, old repairs, losses, and loose components; the group should therefore be considered an assorted decorative collection sold as found.
