An authentic antique utilitarian stoneware mixing bowl manufactured by the renowned Western Stoneware Company (Monmouth, Illinois), dating to the early-to-mid 20th century. This classic kitchen primitive features a distinctive thick, wide shoulder collar rim over a tapered body. The exterior is finished in a desirable, vibrant matte chef blue slip glaze, which contrasts beautifully with the exposed natural cream-tan stoneware peeking out along the upper rim and collar band. The heavy clay walls provide sturdy, durable weight meant for rigorous kitchen use. Condition:Good antique condition overall. The body shows typical factory glaze pops, firing pinholes, and minor glaze skips inherent to early production techniques. No major structural cracks or large pieces missing. Superficial surface scuffs, small glaze flea bites on the rim, and expected shelf wear on the unglazed base ring are present from decades of authentic domestic service.
