Royal KHM manual standard typewriter manufactured in the United States by the Royal Typewriter Company. Developed during the mid-1930s as the successor to the long-running Royal No. 10, the KHM combined Royal's substantial office-typewriter construction with a more enclosed housing, covered ribbon spools, key-set tabulator, and improved operator controls. This example features a black textured finish, round glass-topped keys, twin ribbon-spool covers, full QWERTY keyboard, carriage-return lever, margin-release control, tabulator controls, paper bail, platen, and metal Royal identification emblem. The rear carries the Royal Typewriter Company, New York, manufacturer's marking. The typewriter retains an appealing aged surface with scattered finish wear, scratches, dust, and evidence of prior office use. The keyboard, carriage, platen, and principal operating controls appear generally complete. Operation, ribbon condition, typing action, and mechanical accuracy have not been tested.
