LExceptional antique Dressel four-way railroad marker lantern manufactured in Arlington, New Jersey. Features a heavy black-painted metal body with large red and blue glass signal lenses, carrying handle, vented top and interior burner components. Measures approximately 17.5 inches tall and 9 inches wide. This is an unusually well-preserved example. The body remains straight and solid, the dark painted finish is strong, the colored lenses are intact, and the doors, hinges and latches appear complete. The top is embossed "Arlington" and “Dressel.” Only light scratches, minor finish wear and limited oxidation are visible, with overall wear appropriate for age. The burner has not been filled, lit or tested. Comparable complete Dressel marker lanterns have produced widely varying auction results, with an exceptional red-and-blue-lens example selling for approximately $500. If you have any doubt, please attend the preview and examine all photographs closely before bidding.
