Outstanding antique Adlake Non-Sweating railroad marker lantern marked "I.C.R.R." for the Illinois Central Railroad. Constructed of black-painted metal with multiple colored glass lenses, including blue and amber, and fitted with its carrying handle and interior kerosene burner assembly. Measures approximately 16 inches tall and 9 inches wide. This is an exceptionally well-preserved example and is in far better condition than typically encountered. The body remains straight and solid, the colored lenses are intact, the doors and latches operate, and the interior components appear remarkably complete. The top is embossed “The Adlake Non-Sweating Lamp Chicago,” and the burner assembly carries Adlake company markings. Light scratches, minor paint wear, dust and small areas of surface oxidation are present, but overall condition is excellent for an early railroad lantern of this type. The burner has not been filled, lit or tested and the lantern is being sold as a collectible display piece. If you have any doubt, please attend the preview and examine all photographs closely before bidding.
