NO SHIPPING ~ LOCAL PICKUP ONLY > An old original mid century molded pink flamingo garden ornament standing approximately 32" tall on a circular green painted base measuring 9" in diameter. The full size figure features a molded body with incised feather detail, black wing and tail accents, a long curved neck, painted facial features, webbed feet, and a textured metal support rising from the circular base. The lightweight molded body appears to be chalkware, plaster composition, or a related composite rather than conventional concrete. The neck and body were formed around an internal metal armature. Although the molded material has fractured through the neck, the reinforcing metal remains connected, retaining the major sections and providing a practical foundation for restoration. Older molded flamingo ornaments were produced as colorful flower bed, lawn, patio, and poolside decorations before and alongside the lightweight plastic flamingos popularized during the late 1950s. The substantial 32" height gives this example considerably greater sculptural presence than the familiar plastic lawn variety. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered and offered as is, with notable breaks and losses through the neck, separation of the head and upper neck section, losses near the body attachment, scattered chips, flaking and paint loss, oxidation to the exposed armature and metal support, and general weathering from outdoor display. The principal sculptural elements remain present, and the connected internal armature makes the figure a viable restoration project.
