AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A substantial unmarked blue and white porcelain teapot with coordinating candle warmer, offered together as a complete set and weighing just over 2 pounds. The underside of both the teapot and warmer are unmarked. The teapot stands approximately 5 1/4" tall to the lid finial, with the rounded body measuring approximately 5 1/2" across, excluding the extended spout and handle. The coordinating warmer stands approximately 3" tall by 6" in diameter. When assembled, the complete set stands approximately 11 1/2" tall overall. The teapot features a domed fitted lid, rounded body, curved handle, and elongated spout, while the open warmer includes a removable pierced platform and interior holder for a small warming candle. Both pieces are decorated in a traditional Blue Willow inspired landscape pattern with pagodas, trees, flowering plants, bridges, and ornamental borders. The enduring Blue Willow pattern originated in England during the late 18th century amid strong Western interest in imported Chinese blue and white porcelain. English potteries combined elements drawn from several Chinese landscape designs, including pagodas, trees, water, bridges, boats, and birds, rather than copying a single authentic Chinese pattern. The design became closely associated with blue underglaze transferware produced by British factories during the 1790s, allowing elaborate Chinese inspired decoration to reach a much broader market. Countless British, European, American, and Asian manufacturers later produced variations, establishing Blue Willow as one of the most recognizable and continuously reproduced tableware patterns.
