The broad trapezoidal silhouette, rigid frame, short top handle, and softly gathered textile body draw directly from polished 1950s and early 1960s frame handbags, giving the design a refined Jackie Kennedy era appearance. Four protective metal feet are mounted beneath the brown leather base. The floral patterned satin interior is fitted with a zippered wall pocket and carries a sewn label reading GLENDA GIES. Glenda Gies is a Philadelphia handbag designer whose handmade collections reinterpret old Hollywood glamour through vintage inspired silhouettes, richly textured upholstery fabrics, chenille, tapestry, tweed, leather trim, and distinctive frame construction. Comparable examples identify this compact kiss lock form as the company’s Jackie design. A gold tone floral brooch set with clear, pale blue, and smoky rose rhinestones is attached to the front.
