AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A collection of nine English Staffordshire souvenir butter pats, each measuring approximately 3 1/2" in diameter with a shallow well and slightly raised flange rim. The lot includes seven examples depicting Old North Church in Boston, comprising four printed in red and three in blue, together with two red examples depicting the Paul Revere House. The underside of each bears the circular JONROTH ~ ENGLAND mark within OLD ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE WARE. Several additionally read MADE IN STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND ~ BY GREENFIELD POTTERY, TUNSTALL ~ IMPORTED EXCLUSIVELY FOR RAWDING DISTRIBUTING COMPANY ~ WINCHESTER, MASS., while the remaining examples carry a shorter mark reading IMPORTED FOR RAWDING DISTRIBUTING CO. ~ WINCHESTER, MASS. Jonroth was an American importer active in the Staffordshire souvenir trade, specializing in blue and red historical transfer printed wares made for the United States market. Similar pieces commonly portrayed landmarks, historic homes, churches, and regional attractions, allowing visitors to carry home an affordable pictorial souvenir. These small dishes were originally intended for individual servings of butter, though examples are now frequently collected as miniature transferware, historic souvenir china, or decorative display pieces.
