AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A World War II era U.S. Army Armored Force branch collar insignia measuring approximately 1 3/4" long, formed as the detailed side profile of a Mark VIII heavy tank with riveted armor panels, side gun mounting, access panels, vents, and track detailing. Authorized by War Department Circular 56 on February 25, 1942, the singular tank device served as the branch insignia of the U.S. Army Armored Force throughout World War II. The design continued in use until 1951, when the newly established Armor Branch adopted the present tank and crossed sabers insignia. The reverse retains both original attachment prongs for securing the insignia to the uniform collar. CONDITION REPORT > A rather well preserved example, with both reverse attachment prongs remaining intact.
