Pair OLD WOOD DOGS FISHER PRICE LITTLE PEOPLE TOYS

AVAILABLE for SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > Offered as a two piece grouping of vintage wooden Fisher-Price Original Little People dogs, each measuring approximately 1.75" tall overall, representing two distinctly different body and head configurations recognized by collectors of early Play Family figures. The first example features a narrow, straight-sided black wooden body topped by a rounded white face with cheerful black printed features, flexible black M-shaped ears and a visible metal rivet securing the ears through the head. The figure measures approximately 1.75" tall to the upper edges of the wavy ears. Collector references associate this white-faced, wide-head dog variation with Fisher-Price Lacing Shoe sets, including Nos. 136 and 146. The second example measures 1.75" tall and features a straight-sided black wooden body, projecting black muzzle, white drooping ears and painted white facial details. Fisher-Price introduced straight-sided Little People dogs in 1963, following the earlier tapered examples first produced in 1960. Straight-sided figures continued through the early 1970s, overlapping with later wide-base forms introduced during the mid 1960s. Original Little People dogs were produced in numerous variations distinguished by body shape, overall height, face color, muzzle profile, ear style, collar treatment, printed features and the presence of a metal head rivet. Early examples were constructed entirely of wood, while later production gradually incorporated plastic components. These subtle differences frequently determine the original playset association and contribute to collector interest. Together, the contrasting dogs provide an appealing comparison of early Fisher-Price design variations and make a desirable addition to an Original Little People, Play Family or vintage wooden toy collection.
