A group of Canadian 25-cent coins struck during the reign of King George VI, featuring dates of 1940 and 1943. These specimens are composed of 0.800 fineness silver. The obverse of each coin depicts the uncrowned profile of King George VI facing left, surrounded by the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D: G: REX ET IND: IMP:. The reverse design features a caribou head with antlers, with the inscriptions CANADA and 25 CENTS above and the date below. Each coin is finished with a reeded edge. Condition: The coins are in circulated condition, displaying moderate wear to the high points of the royal portraits and the caribou features. The 1940 specimen exhibits significant dark peripheral toning and tarnishing. The 1943 examples show a consistent grey patina with light surface marks and minor contact nicks consistent with age and circulation.
