A collection of Canadian silver coins of the 25-cent denomination, comprising specimens from the early reign of King George VI. The group includes issues dated 1937, 1938, 1941, and 1942. The obverse of each coin features the left-facing uncrowned portrait of the King by T. H. Paget, surrounded by the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP :. The reverse design, created by Emanuel Hahn, depicts a caribou in profile with a large rack of antlers, accompanied by the inscriptions CANADA, 25 Cents, and the respective year of issue. Each coin is struck in 80% silver with a reeded edge. Suggested reference (unverified): KM# 37. Condition: The coins are in circulated condition, exhibiting moderate wear to the high points of the designs, specifically the hair on the portrait and the shoulder of the caribou. The 1938 specimen shows significant dark toning and patches of green oxidation (verdigris) on both the obverse and reverse. The 1942 specimen displays an even yellowish-brown patina. Surfaces across the collection show various small contact marks and abrasions consistent with time in circulation. The edges appear generally intact without major knocks.
