A pair of Canadian silver 50-cent coins dated 1956 and 1958. These specimens are struck in .800 fineness silver. The obverse of each coin features the first laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, surrounded by the Latin legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse of the 1956 coin features the Canadian Coat of Arms surmounted by a Tudor crown, while the 1958 specimen features the redrawn 1957 Coat of Arms with a St Edward's crown. Both reverse designs are by George Kruger-Gray, whose initials K and G are present flanking the shield. The reverse legends include the denomination 50 CENTS, the country name CANADA, and the respective dates. Both coins have reeded edges. Reference: KM# 53. Condition: Circulated. Both coins exhibit surface wear to the high points of the relief, along with numerous fine contact marks and light scratches consistent with time in circulation. Minor toning is present on both specimens. The 1958 coin displays a localized dark deposit on the obverse portrait.
