This monochrome offset lithograph poster features M.C. Escher's 1951 work House of Stairs (Trappenhuis). The surrealist composition depicts an impossible architectural interior filled with multiple staircases and populated by the artist's fantastical segmented creatures known as curl-ups. The print is rendered in grayscale on a cream-toned paper. The lower-left corner of the image contains the artist's printed monogram MCE and the date XI-51 within a square box. The lower margin includes the title of the work in four languages and identifying information: E28 / M.C. ESCHER, TRAPPENHUIS - HOUSE OF STAIRS - TREPPENHAUS - CAGE DES ESCALIERS. Further text identifies the copyright as M.C. Escher Cordon Art - Baarn - Holland and notes that the poster was published by Cordon Art B.V., P.O. Box 101, 3740 AC Baarn, Holland. The print is laminated and dry-mounted to a rigid fiberboard backing with finished black edges and a hanging wire attached to the reverse. The back features a red and white PLAK-IT manufacturer's label and a secondary barcode inventory sticker. Dimensions: H approx. 32 in x W approx. 19 in (note: only inches shown on scale). Condition: The print and mounting are in good overall condition. There is minor wear to the outer edges of the fiberboard, including small nicks and scuffs. The laminated surface shows minor shelf wear consistent with age.
