Two 1936 Olympia-Sonderheft special editions of the Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung, published to document the Berlin Olympic Games. Each magazine measures approximately 10.5 by 14.5 inches and bears a printed price of 1 Mark. The illustrated covers by artist Ludwig Hohlwein depict idealized athletic figures; the second special issue shows a competitor in a white jersey with the Olympic rings being crowned with a laurel wreath, while the other features a male portrait juxtaposed against a classical marble bust. Both issues contain extensive photographic coverage and illustrated reports from the events. Condition details include a heavy horizontal fold crease across the center, spine splitting, edge tears, paper loss, and partial cover separation. Handwriting is present on the back cover, alongside generalized foxing. p
