This gilt bronze commemorative medal measures 1.4 inches in diameter. The obverse features a highly detailed, right-facing bust portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary in military uniform with honors, encircled by his imperial title inscription. The reverse displays a combination wreath of laurel and oak branches encircling a central rectangular cartouche bearing the inscription "SIGNVM MEMORIAE," topped by the Roman numeral dates "MDCCCXLVIII - MDCCCCXVIII" (1848–1898) denoting his 50-year jubilee reign. The award is suspended from an upper loop attached to its original triangular folded solid red fabric ribbon. The planchet shows age-appropriate light surface wear and minor spotting to the gilt finish, while the red ribbon displays minor soiling and edge fraying from long-term handling. B
