This bronze First World War commemorative medal measures 1.4 inches in diameter. The obverse features an Austrian eagle with outspread wings standing above a small shield, with the raised lowercase inscription "FÜR ÖSTERREICH" curved along the lower edge. The reverse displays the campaign years "1914–1918" positioned centrally within a continuous oak leaf wreath. The medal is suspended from its original triangular folded white-red-white striped ribbon, which features a brass crossed-swords device attached to indicate a combatant award. The planchet shows age-appropriate light surface wear, minor spots of oxidation, and slight discoloration, while the fabric ribbon displays minor creasing from handling.
