This pair features two World War I home-front fundraising stick pins. The circular metal medallions are miniature versions of the famous 1916 Gold gab ich zur Wehr (I gave gold for defense, I took iron for honor) charity tokens designed by Paul Hosaeus. The obverse depicts a kneeling woman sacrificing her jewelry next to the inscription "In eiserner Zeit 1916" (In iron times). Each medallion is attached to a long straight stick pin and decorated with a fabric ribbon bow—one in the traditional Imperial German black, white, and red colors, and the other featuring a multi-striped pattern including black, red, white, and yellow. Both pieces show minor age patination and light handling wear. Both measure 2" tall and 2" wide. B
