Dating to the World War I era, this group features three German commemorative medals. The two lower pieces are black-finished iron tokens issued for donating gold to the war effort as part of the 1916 "Gold gab ich zur Wehr" (I gave gold for defense) patriotic campaign. The obverse displays a kneeling woman sacrificing jewelry under the text "In eiserner Zeit," while the reverse bears the campaign motto "Gold gab ich zur Wehr, Eisen nahm ich zur Ehr" alongside the designer signature "Hosaeus." The upper piece is a silver-washed white metal medal featuring a top suspension loop, depicting the Niederwald Monument on the front and surrounded by a commemorative German inscription enclosed in a wreath on the reverse. The collection shows minor surface wear, light oxidation, and rim scuffs from handling. Dimensions range in diameter from 1.5 inches to 1 3/4 inches. OT
